Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Iowa Department of Transportation has awarded the city of Spencer 800 thousand dollars to help two paving projects. City Manager Kevin Robinson says two streets will be extended to potential industrial sites.
Six companies affected by the floods indicate they would be interested in relocating to one of those locations after the streets are done.
Members of the city council who were in attendance Monday night voted unanimously to fund a 15-thousand-dollar Hotel feasibility study. They had discussed the value of the expenditure in depth during a workshop session last week. Retail Recruiter Kyle Cofer said there are at least three companies considering Spencer.
Cofer says the “most serious” hotel operator is comfortable with a certain size, and if the study indicates a larger or smaller facility is needed, they’ll pass.
