MORE 104.9 is a proud advocate for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  October effects each of us different.  Some of us wear pink to celebrate, some quietly observe the month, and some will feel grief or sorrow.

This month – we encourage you to take a moment and learn more about breast cancer, the risk factors for you and those you love, how to minimize them, and the importance of being screened for the disease.

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.  That’s 1 person every 2 minutes in the U.S.  Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women.

Knowing your family history can be lifesaving.  Talk to your doctor about your family history, and see how that history impacts your risk of breast cancer.  If you are at an “average risk”, have a mammogram yearly starting at age 40.
