Arraignment Hearing Set For Second Suspect In Palo Alto County Murder Case

Emmetsburg, IA (KICD)– The second person charged in the murder of a Southeast Iowa in Palo Alto County nearly two years ago is scheduled to be arraigned later this week.

22-year-old Brice Colling was arrested in late February and charged with first degree murder in the July 2020 beating death of Rollin Bontrager whose body was reportedly discovered several days days later in Virgin Lake south of Ruthven.

Colling will enter his plea Friday morning in Palo Alto County District Court. The original suspect, Allan Schwidder pled guilty to second degree murder and was given up to 50 years in prison.
