Spencer, IA (KICD)– The City of Spencer is in the process of changing an ordinance that will allow lights on certain signs in the community.

Planning Director Adam Severson says the change comes after several realtors requested an update to city code.

Councilman Tom Nelson added he too had been contacted by a local realtor on the matter asking for the change especially considering the amount of darkness we see this time of year.

Since this change involves updating an ordinance it will require three readings before it becomes official. The first of those reading passed unanimously last week the the other two planned for upcoming council meetings.
