Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– The Dickinson County Board Supervisors, after several weeks of deliberation, voted on Tuesday to join the Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communication System.
One of the points brought up during discussion was whether or not some of the funding for the move, that will cost Dickinson County as much as 5.5 million dollars, should come from outside entities that will benefit. Supervisor Tim Fairchild noted he thought it would more sense to have tax money from the entire county pay.
Chairman Bill Leupold says there already a number of local entities showing interest in joining the system.
The Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communications System is a statewide radio platform designed to provide radio communication to public safety agencies and others to help improve public safety across the state.
