Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — A reported potential drowning on East Lake Okoboji yesterday afternoon fortunately turned out NOT to be the case.

The Arnolds Park / Okoboji fire and rescue dive team and rescue boat were requested shortly after 3pm. The Spirit Lake fire department, Spirit Lake first responders, and Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance were already at the scene when they arrived.

A male swimmer had become fatigued and called for help. His family was able to boat closer and a second male was able to get him back in the boat, but did sustain injuries in the effort.

Rescue personnel boarded the boat, found both men conscious and breathing, but did transport them to the hospital in Spirit Lake for further medical attention.
