DOE Approves Nearly 19 Thousand Vouchers

Des Moines, IA (KICD) — The Iowa Department of Education approved 18 thosuand 893 voucher applications in the first year of the Education Saving Account program.
Sioux County ranked number four in the state at twelve hundred vouchers, behind Polk, Black Hawk, and Scott Counties. O’Brien County ranked number 16 out of 99 counties with 257 transfers approved. Elsewhere in the region: Lyon County had 198, Buena Vista County had 154, and Clay County had 143.75 vouchers were approved in Palo Alto County and 43 were approved in Pocahontas County.
Three counties were in the lower end: Cherokee with 17, Dickinson County with twelve, and only one in Emmet County.
Three counties in the entire state had zero.
The Department says they rejected five thousand 927 applications. September 30th was the deadline to apply.
