Estherville, IA (KICD)– Emmet County health officials confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in the county Wednesday.

Kathy Preston is the Nurse Administrator for Emmet County Public Health. She tells KICD News officials have been working on their plans for the first case for some time even through the 18-40 year old patient just tested positive for the virus.

The case confirmation comes just days before Governor Kim Reynolds is allowing most businesses across the state to reopen which has Preston giving some additional precautions.

Now that Emmet County has a confirmed case of COVID-19, Iowa is left with only four counties yet to confirm their first case, all of which in the southern portion of the state.
