Spencer, IA (KICD) — A Florida man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a Spencer gas station Tuesday night.
The Spencer Police Department says they were dispatched to the Dynos Convenience Store located at 1001 S. Grand Ave for a report of an armed robbery. The store clerk reported that he was just robbed by a male who fled the scene in a newer white sedan heading westbound.
Clay County Deputies located the vehicle and stopped it in the Verizon parking lot located at 712 11th St SW.
The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Jaime Salina Munoz of Shalimar, Florida. Authorities were able to take him into custody without further incident. During the investigation, police determined that Munoz had entered the Dynos store and attempted to purchase a can of beer. When Munoz was speaking with the clerk, he displayed a firearm tucked in his waistband and demanded the money. Munoz then fled the store.
Officers were able to recover the stolen cash and a BB gun that was used in the robbery. Munoz was charged by police with robbery 1st degree and booked into the Clay County Jail where he is being held on a $25,000 bond.
