Highway 71 Drug Arrest

Spencer, IA (KICD) — A Storm Lake man is arrested after a traffic stop.

Early Sunday morning, a Clay County Deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 4800 mile of Highway 71, knowing the driver had a suspended license. Upon contacting the vehicle, the deputy learned the suspended license person was not driving, but Jose Diaz was.

The deputy found that Diaz was operating without a drivers license. The deputy also smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Diaz was asked if there was marijuana in the vehicle and he said yes, gave the pot to the deputy.

He was arrested and charged with Possession of a.Controlled.Substance-Marijuana, No Insurance and No Drivers License. Diaz was held to appear before the Magistrate.
