Storm Lake, IA (KICD)– Construction on a new Iowa Central Community College Learning Center in Storm Lake is officially underway.

Contractors have been doing some preliminary work on the site since March but a ceremonial ground breaking was held on Thursday morning

When completed, the new two-story building will feature 16 classrooms, an Academic Resource Center and a testing center making it possible for all ICCC operations in Storm Lake to be contained under one roof unlike the the current set-up that has students taking classes in three separate buildings around the community.

Iowa Central President Jesse Ulrich says the new structure will serve a dual purpose for the community being a learning center during the day and the site for continued education courses after regular business hours.

Construction of the new campus next to the Iowa Central Training Center on the north side of Storm Lake is expected to be completed in August of next year.
