Worthington, MN (KICD) — The Minnesota State Patrol made a trio of arrests and seized a large amount of marijuana in a traffic stop along I-90 last month.
According to the criminal complaint, a trooper pulled over a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Poua Pheng Her of Lake Elmo for a severe crack in the windshield and observing him weaving lanes on an exit. Poua Her was pulling a U-Haul trailer and claimed he and his parents were helping his sister move. He gave conflicting answers about why his sister wasn’t present, leading the trooper to run an inquiry on the vehicle.
It was discovered the vehicle had been to Yreka, CA, a city known to law enforcement as a notorious drug trafficking town, just days before. One of the passengers, 57-year-old Neng Vue Her of Oakdale was then questioned, she gave differing stories about where in California they were coming from.
A K9 unit was deployed and alerted at the front of the trailer and in the vehicle, allowing law enforcement to search the U-Haul. Several black garbage bags containing what appeared to be marijuana were found inside.
Poua Her, Neng Her and the other passenger, 61-year-old Chiakou Her of Lake Elmo were then all arrested and charged with felonies Importing Controlled Substances Across State Borders, Possession with Intent to Sell and Possession of Controlled Substance Marijuana.
When law enforcement weighed the bags to enter into evidence, they determined the total weight of the seized drugs was 332 and a half pounds.
