National Recognition For Spencer High School Drama Department

Spencer, IA (KICD)–The Spencer High School Drama Department has received national recognition for the sets of both productions from the 2014-2015 season.

“LES MISERABLES” received a second place recognition in the National Set Building Contest sponsored by Sceno-Graphics Set Design Company , while “YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU” garnered the third place award.

High School Drama Director Larry Untiet tells KICD News that both sets were built and painted entirely by Spencer High School students under the supervision of himself and art instructor, Frank Boever.

This award marks the eleventh and twelfth time Spencer High School has placed in this national contest.

Each year, 125-150 students are involved in the drama department either onstage or behind the scenes.
