Spencer, IA (KICD)– Candidates are beginning to file for local offices for upcoming primaries and the general election in November including Chris Raveling who will be running for his second term as Clay County Sheriff.

Sheriff Raveling tells KICD News he has a lengthy resume that has helped prepare him for the last several years as Sheriff as he looks to expand on that tenure.

He adds his involvement in the community is an important piece to his success in his position.

Raveling has some goals in mind if he gets reelected which include continuing to combat increases in drug cases and finding more support for mental health.

Sheriff Raveling says making the Clay County Sheriff’s Office have a positive impact on the various communities has shown good things when it comes to different crimes getting reported over the past few years.

Raveling says he is also working on getting a D.A.R.E program built for all of Clay County that will help build that positive relationship between law enforcement and kids starting at a young age.
