Spencer, IA (KICD)– Spencer’s department heads presented their monthly reports at the regular City Council meeting on Monday and highlighted yet another busy month for the community’s emergency services.

Deputy Fire Chief Mark Stover told the council the thirty days of last month featured a variety of calls for that crew.

Police Chief Mark Warburton also gave his activity report which included results of the most recent Drug Take Back Day which attempts to get unused medications to proper authorities for disposal and keeping them off the streets.

It also appears there is quite a bit of interest in the city’s opening for Fire Chief. Human Resources Director Jessica Wright noted the application period closed over the weekend with 32 resumes received. The announcement as to who will take over for the retiring John Conyn is expected sometime early next month.
