Spencer, IA (KICD)– Two Spencer residents are in police custody in connection to a convenience store robbery from earlier this year.
Spencer Police Chief Mark Warburton tells KICD News the robbery took place in February when 31-year-old Coty Wolthuis , an employee at the Casey’s at 800 South Grand Avenue, and 40-year-old Jason Archer allegedly acted as a team to stage the robbery.
Both turned themselves in on Wednesday afternoon and were charged with 2nd-degree theft and conspiracy to commit a felony. Wolthuis was further charged with making false reports and Archer with 3rd-degree burglary.
The eight-month investigation was conducted by the Spencer Police Department, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
