Ten Spencer Students Selected For All-State Band and Choir

Spencer, IA (KICD)– Ten Spencer High School students have received word their hard work through part of the summer and the first portion of the school year has paid off by being selected for the All-State Music Festival through the Iowa High School Music Association.

Katie Kardell is the Director of Vocal Music at Spencer High School and she talked with KICD News about the process a student goes through prior to auditioning for All-State.

One of the students selected for this year’s group is senior Emma Ver Steeg who told us about the practice schedule prior to the audition.

Also being selected this year is senior Jace Wiemers who told us the the audition process is both fun and nerve wracking at the same time.

The All-State Music Festival will take place November 15-17 with Ver Steeg and Wiemers being joined by Natalie Kroll, Makenna Pierce, Vanessa Reardon, Rhyan Busch and Kyle Goeken for choir along with with Levi Rees, Brandon Nolin and Allison Nolin for band.
