Tigers Sweep Lakes Conference Cross Country Titles


Spencer, Ia (KICD) – The Lakes Conference had their Cross Country Meet on Monday at the Spencer Municipal Golf Course.

In the Girls Race, Peyton Morey placed 1st with a time of 20:25.77. Morey talked about how she approached the race.

Spencer’s Adalyn Schoelerman took 2nd with a time of 20:33.85. Cherokee’s Grace Woodall was 3rd with a time of 20:54.14, Spencer’s Alexandria Palmer was 4th with a time of 21:00.88, and Estherville Lincoln Central’s Tatum Dunlavy took 5th with a time of 21:08.08.

The rest of the All-Conference roster was Silvia Kampbell of Storm Lake in 6th, Estherville Lincoln Central’s Jaselyn Anderson 7th, Megan Courtright of Cherokee in 8th, her teammate Addyson Wilkie in 9th, and Storm Lake’s Lillian Dahlhauser in 10th.

Spencer would win the meet with 34 points. Tiger Coach Drew Schiltz was very pleased with the Girls race.

Cherokee took 2nd, Storm Lake 3rd, Estherville Lincoln Central 4th, and Spirit Lake was 5th.

For the Boys Race, the Conference Champion was Spirit Lake’s Brandon Hughes, who ran a time of 16:08.20. Hughes has been dealing with some pain in the past few weeks, but he believes he is starting to turn a corner.

Storm Lake’s Luiz Martinez was 2nd with a time of 16:22.7, Parker Duitsman of Estherville Lincoln Central was 3rd at 17:01.3, Joel Ramirez-Parra of Storm Lake took 4th with a time of 17:09.00, and Dietrich Dirks would place 5th for Spirit Lake with a time of 17:30.6.

The rest of the All-Conference team was Spencer’s Van Munson 6th, Nolan McCusker, 7th, and Rylei Koppie was 8th. Spirit Lake’s Riley Sorenson was 9th with a time of 18:01.00 and Noah Fullhart of Spencer took 10th with a time of 18:01.6.

Spencer’s Van Munson talked about the Tigers Depth.

Spencer would place 1st with 42 points. Coach Schiltz said it was a very competitive meet.

Spirit Lake took 2nd, Storm Lake 3rd, Cherokee 4th, and Estherville Lincoln Central was 5th.
