Traffic Stop in Emmet County Results in Multiple Charges for Louisiana Man

Estherville, IA (KICD) — A Louisiana man was arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop in Emmet County last Friday.

According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, a deputy pulled over a vehicle speeding southbound on 490th Avenue just South of Maple Hill. During the stop, it was discovered that the driver, 33 year old Antonio Babineaux of Opelousas, Louisiana didn’t have a valid license.

Babineaux was also found to be wanted by the State of Texas. He was also reportedly in the possession of a controlled substance and a handgun that was stolen.

Babineaux was then arrested for Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm as a Convicted Felon, Trafficking in Stolen Weapons 1st Offense, Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense and cited for No Driver’s License and Speeding.
