Spencer, IA (Northwest Iowa Now) — There were a total of 46 entries in this year’s Cinnamon Roll Contest at the Clay County Fair.

Winning the $1,500 Blue Ribbon prize was Jean Doeden of Worthington, Minnesota. Doeden tells Northwest Iowa Now she makes her cinnamon rolls the old-fashioned-way by hand and has always used the same recipe.

Doeden wanted to pass on advice to other people thinking about entering the contest in the future, she simply says “keep doing it” and “don’t give up.”

Winning the $500 second place prize was Jean Trimble and the $250 third place prize went to Sharon Hansen.  This is actually the second time Jean Doeden has was the grand prize, she first won the competition in 2012.
