Humboldt, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – This is your Northwest Iowa Now Friday Football Wrap up.

News Radio 102.5 and AM 1240 KICD brought you coverage from Humboldt as the #3 in 3A Wildcats played host to the Spencer Tigers.

It was a fun, well played first half between the two teams. Humboldt got the big play going on a 3rd and 14 when Jackson Flaherty connected with his twin brother Chase on a 66-yard Touchdown pass.

Spencer came back with a long, grind of a drive, consuming more than 6 minutes of game action and capping it off with a Kam Young Touchdown, tying the game at 7.

The halftime score remained tied at 7, but Humboldt came out of the locker room in a big way, riding Cash McIntire down the field who eventually scored the Touchdown, giving the Wildcats a 14-7 lead.

In the following drive, Spencer would fumble on a 4th down, which would be returned for a Touchdown, extending the Humboldt lead to 14.

The Tigers would respond with another long drive, ending in another Kam Young Touchdown run to get Spencer back within a score.

Cramping became more frequent on the field as the 2nd half carried on, and Spencer at one point was down to their 4th string Tailback and 2nd string Center. The Tigers would fumble on back-to-back drives, each in which were cashed in on by Humboldt with Touchdowns.

The Wildcats would pull away in the end to win 35-13.

Humboldt’s Cash McIntire didn’t play most of the first half due to a cut on his forehead. He would end up with 3 touchdowns, and 110 rushing yards, all in the 2nd half.

Jackson Flaherty completed 4 of 7 passes for 111 yards, a Touchdown and Interception.

The Tigers got 146 yards on 24 carries and a pair of Touchdowns from Kam Young. Dylan Timmer had 90 yards through the air with an interception.

Spencer was only outgained 316-315 by Humboldt but lost the turnover battle by 3.

Humboldt will play host to Clear Lake next week while Spencer goes to Carroll.
