Clay County Foundation Announces 2026 Grant Awards

Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Clay County Foundation has awarded grants to twenty-four organizations amounting to nearly 152 thousand dollars.
The 25 thousand dollar “Impact” grant goes to the new River’s Edge Childcare Center in Spencer to support the purchase of commercial kitchen appliances.

10-thousand-dollar grants were given to: Trinity Daycare and Preschool for an expansion of infant care; St. Luke’s Home for an activity bus; The city of Dickens for a new storm siren; the city of Webb for a new playground; The Royal Historical Society for a new roof on the library; and Spencer Library to digitize newspaper archives.

Organizations receiving between 5 and 7 thousand dollars are: Royal Hometown Pride for new playground equipment, CAASA for food pantry shelving; Clay County Heritage for fire extinguishers; Everly and Royal Lions clubs for vision screening equipment; The Clay County Fair for dead tree removal; Spencer School Foundation for audio equipment at the high school; and the Everly public library for a handicap accessible door.

Smaller amounts were given to UDMO Headstart for playground equipment; Arts on Grand for supplies; Spencer Daybreakers Kiwanis and Spencer Jaycees for upgrades at their fair stands; and also, to Lutheran Services, Spencer Municipal Hospital; Spencer Fire and Rescue; First Responders; ISU Extension; and the Iowa Rock and Roll Music Association.

Executive Director Terri Batschelet says the Clay County Foundation seeks to assist organizations and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents. They accept donations year-round.
