Carroll, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) -This is your Northwest Iowa Now Friday Football Wrap Up.

Spencer hit the road on Friday to take on Carroll for Non-District action.

Spencer started off in a big way as Kam Young burst through the pile for an 87-yard Touchdown run on the game’s first play from scrimmage.

Carroll keyed in on Young for the remainder of the game, making it tough for Spencer to move the Football up the middle.

Carroll was able to answer on the next drive, scoring on a 19-yard Touchdown run by Adam Malik.

Late in the first quarter, Dylan Timmer connected with Shelton Bendlin on a 40-yard completion, setting up Young for his second Touchdown run on the night.

Toward the end of the first half, Timmer found another teammate down field, this time Drew Piercy on a 25-yard Touchdown pass, and Spencer went to the locker room up 21-7.

It was a rough start to the second half for Spencer, fumbling on their first offensive drive which Keiran Polking took back for a 27-yard defensive Touchdown. They would also fumble a punt deep inside their own territory.

The Spencer defense continued to step up though, forcing multiple turnovers on down and getting two interceptions with Carroll in plus territory.

That gave the Spencer offense time to get locked back in, as they strung together a dominant 5 minute and 42 second drive, ending in Kam Young’s 3rd rushing Touchdown.

Carroll put together a late Touchdown drive to get the game back in a score at 27-19. After Carroll forced a quick and ideal 3-and-out on the following drive, Spencer’s defense came up big again, forcing a turnover on downs so the offense could run out the clock.

Spencer’s 27-19-win evens up their early season record at 1-1. Kam Young ran the Football 20 times for 3 Touchdowns and 139 of the team’s 167 yards. Dylan Timmer completed 9 of his 10 passes for 161 yards, 62 on 4 completions to Foster Roos, and 50 on 2 toward Drew Piercy.

Adam Malick was great for Carroll, rushing 20 times for 97 yards and a Touchdown to go along with 5 receptions for 78 yards, partaking in 65 percent of his team’s total yards.
