E-Hawks Sweep Tigers in Non-Conference Play

Emmetsburg, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Girls and Boys Basketball teams were on the road Monday night for a non-conference varsity double-header against Emmetsburg.

The night started off with a Girls contest featuring two 3-1 teams.

Emmetsburg improves to 4-1 on the year with the 54-36 win over Spencer.  The E-Hawks were led in scoring by Dylan Fiene who scored 19.  Rachel Schany was in double figures with 12.

Spencer falls to 3-2 after the loss, led in scoring by Calista Frankenstein’s 7.

In the Boys contest, both teams were searching for their first win of the season.

In the 57-50 win for the E-Hawks, Matthew Malm hit 6 three pointers on his way to a 22 point evening.  Emmetsburg hit 12 triples in the game.  Kyle Europa hit 3 of those as he scored 15 points.

Tate Vonehwegen came off the bench to give Spencer 20.  Drew Piercy scored all 11 of his points in the 1st half.

Next up for the E-Hawks is a Twin Lakes Conference matchup at home against Southeast Valley on Friday while Spencer plays host to Sioux Center on Thursday.
