Washington DC (Northwestiowanow.com) — Randy Feenstra, the two-term Republican Congressman from Hull, has officially announced he’s running for governor.

Numerous Republicans have also announced for the open primary next June since incumbent Republican Kim Reynolds announced she would not run again. The Feenstra video, though, takes aim at the presumptive Democrat nominee, State Auditor Rob Sand.

Feenstra defeated a sitting Congressman in the Republican primary four years ago. That Congressman – Steve King – said the ethanol industry funded the challenge.

The carbon capture pipeline is shaping up to be the defining issue in the Republican primary, with Feenstra last week saying he is against eminent domain for the pipeline’s construction.

Feenstra is the former City Manager from Hull and also served in the Iowa Senate.
