FEMA Trailers Removed Soon

Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — During the regular meeting of the Spencer City Council meeting Tuesday, City Manager Kevin Robinson announced the final FEMA trailers will be removed soon.

The contract for hourly workers expires next year. Spencer Employees Association representative Jacob Franker says the union is requesting a three-year deal.

It’s now the city council’s turn to respond with it’s opening offer.

And the oath of office was administered to the winners in last month’s city council elections.

Administering the oath now means that Amy Moser, Becky Peterson, and Chuck Illig are officially in office when the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve.

4st Ward Councilman Donovan Wunschel tendered his resignation last night since he was elected Mayor and cannot serve in both offices. That vacancy is effective January 1st so it will be up to that future city council to determine whether they fill that seat by appointment or special election. There are still two years left in the current term for the Ward 4 seat.
