Emmetsburg, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Seasons Center for Behavioral Health has issued a formal press release announcing a free Youth Mental Health First Aid training scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in Emmetsburg. The event will take place at the Emmetsburg Public Library from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, focusing on equipping adults with the skills to support young people ages 12 to 18. This evidence-based curriculum covers a range of critical topics, including anxiety, depression, substance use, and the impacts of social media, teaching participants how to recognize early warning signs and connect youth to professional help.

According to the release, the training is open to a wide array of community members, including parents, teachers, coaches, and healthcare providers. Stephanie Pohar, Seasons Center’s VP of Marketing and Fund Development, emphasized that the program is designed to build trust and confidence in adults, allowing them to act as a vital link for youth who may otherwise struggle in silence. Participants can earn continuing education units (CEUs) for social work and counseling certifications, though registration is mandatory due to limited seating at the library’s Superior Street location.

The organization, which has served Northwest Iowa since 1959, highlighted that this session is part of their broader mission to guide families toward fulfilling lives through proactive mental health education. Registration links are available on the Seasons Center website under the Resources and Events section, as well as on their official Facebook page. For those requiring specific information or non-standard CEUs, the center encourages direct contact via their administrative office at 1-800-242-5101.
