Wahpeton, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — As of last week, the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation was less than 300 thousand dollars away from raising the cash it needs to buy the 73-acre Oars Campground to ensure it is never developed. INHF has until Halloween to raise $1.9 million. Okoboji Protective Association President Pete De Kock announced Saturday the OPA is donating 15 thousand dollars toward the effort.

De Kock says OPA is now challenging its individual members to help put the drive over the top.

Once the property purchase is complete, the plan is to deed the property to the city of Arnolds Park and turn over management to the Dickinson County Conservation Board.
