Sioux City, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) – A Cherokee man is headed to federal prison for possessing child pornography.

Sixty-two-year-old Roger Strickland was sentenced to more than five years behind bars after a forensic review of his electronic devices uncovered more than 8,000 images and 225 videos.

Strickland pleaded guilty to the charges in April. Along with his 63-month prison term, he was ordered to pay $39,000 in restitution to victims and will face five years of supervised release.

The case was investigated by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Cherokee Police Department as part of a nationwide initiative to combat child exploitation.
