Officials Watching Temperatures for Polar Plunge Saturday Afternoon

Arnolds Park, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — The boldest tradition of the University of Okoboji Winter Games returns this Saturday with the Polar Plunge. Saturday, January 24. Safety is the first priority for everyone involved with this tradtional event.

Morgan Strauss with the Iowa Lakes Chamber says the Arnolds Park / Okoboji Fire and Rescue team provides support during the daring dive into the water, too.

The Polar Plunge at Arnolds Park beach is Saturday at 3 p.m and registration begins at 1:30. Participants must be 18 or older, and the $25 registration fee supports the local first responders.

The forecast for this weekend should keep the ice solid, with temperatures falling to minus 16 degrees Friday night into Saturday, warming up to 2 degrees by Plunge time. Find the weather forecast here.
