Pocahontas Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Meth and Gun Charges

Sioux City, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) —  A 47-year-old Pocahontas, Iowa man faces up to life in prison after pleading guilty to federal drug and firearm charges in Sioux City.

Jordan Mefferd pled guilty Monday to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and illegal possession of firearms. Under federal law, Mefferd faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum fine of over $60 million.

According to prosecutors, Mefferd admitted to conspiring to distribute more than a pound of meth in the Webster County area between July 2024 and September 2025. Law enforcement operations, including four controlled buys and a raid on his residence, yielded over 200 grams of pure methamphetamine, nearly $10,000 in cash, and four firearms.

Mefferd was legally prohibited from owning those weapons due to a lengthy criminal record, which includes prior convictions for burglary, escape, and multiple felony drug offenses.

The case was investigated by a coalition of state, local, and federal agencies, including the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the FBI. Mefferd remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals pending his sentencing before District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand
