Regional Transit Authority CEO Cindy Voss approached the Clay County Board of Supervisors today with a funding request and a warning about the agency’s financial health.
Voss is asking for twenty-thousand dollars for fiscal year 2027. However, she told the Board the agency is currently operating in a deficit.
Despite the financial challenges, the Supervisors agreed to mark the funding request at the twenty-thousand dollar level for the upcoming budget discussions.
In the meantime, Voss says RIDES will continue services as best they can with the funds they have, but the public can help, too.
RIDES, or Regional Transit Authority, serves a nine-county area in Northwest Iowa, including Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, and Sioux counties.
