SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) — River’s Edge Church will host an open house for its new childcare center this week.

The open house, scheduled for Thursday, April 2, from 5 to 7 p.m., will give families and community members a first look ahead of the center’s official opening on April 13.  Gracie Dammann, Child Care Director at River’s Edge Church, says the project came in response to a significant childcare shortage in Clay County.

She adds that the situation becomes even more challenging during the summer months.

Since last fall, Dammann says the church’s education wing has been completely renovated, including new carpeting, paint, and a sprinkler system. The renovations are now finished, and staff are preparing to welcome families into the space.

The River’s Edge Child Care Center will provide care for children from six weeks old through age three, with three classrooms set to open initially.  Dammann says there are still openings available, though pre-registration has already generated strong interest. Families will also be able to enroll during the open house.  She emphasizes the center is designed to be accessible to families across the community.

During the open house, visitors will be able to tour classrooms, meet lead teachers, ask questions, and learn more about the program. The event is open to anyone in the community, not just families currently seeking childcare.

For more information and registration details, visit the River’s Edge Child Care Center on Facebook or online at respencer.org.
