Ron Hanson Announces for Run for Mayor

Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — There are now two Spencer councilmembers who have announced their candidacy for mayor. 5th Ward councilman Ron Hanson says he’s thought about it over the years, and after his retirement, it’s now or never.

Hanson says it’s ironic that wastewater was the biggest city issue when he first ran, and now a major modernization at the facility is probably the largest project in the city’s near-term future.

Hanson tells KICD News he’s proud of being part of the team that socked money away for a rainy day.

Councilman Ron Hanson says he’s sure he hasn’t made everyone in town happy during his five terms, but that he always listened to the public and did his homework before voting on a major issue. 4th Ward Councilman Donavan Wunschel previously announced his candidacy for mayor after incumbent Steve Bomgaars announced he is not seeking another term.
