SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) – If nautical nonsense be something you wish, the Spencer Community Theatre is preparing to take audiences on a trip to Bikini Bottom with its upcoming production of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical (Youth Edition).

Although hesitant at first to perform the show, co-directors Megan Hanges and Melissa Michels say the musical delivers a heartfelt message.

The production marks Michels’ first time directing a show after previously participating in SCT productions as an actor.

While the directors are keeping many details of the production under wraps, they promise audiences can expect memorable moments, energetic dance numbers and impressive vocal performances.

The production includes 50 young actors, with many cast members appearing on stage throughout most of the show.

Tickets are on sale now through Spencer Community Theatre’s box office. For more information, visit sctplayhouse.org or the organization’s Facebook page.
