SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) – The hills will come alive as Spencer Community Theatre prepares to open its production of The Sound of Music this weekend.

Cast and crew say audiences can expect a classic story, familiar songs, and a large, enthusiastic cast filling the Playhouse stage.  Connie Goeken with Spencer Community Theatre says the production captures both the joy and the historical weight of the story.

The cast includes a wide variety of veteran performers, as well as several newcomers making their Spencer debut.

Tickets are expected to move quickly. Steve Deutsch with SCT encourages people not to wait.

The Sound of Music runs February 27–28, with a March 1 matinee, and continues March 5–7 at Spencer Community Theatre. Tickets are available at SCTplayhouse.org, by calling 262-7336, or at the box office at 518 1st Avenue East.
