Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Girls Soccer team played host to Sioux Center in the Class 2A Region 7 Semifinals Tuesday night at the Northwest Iowa Soccer Field in Spencer.

The Tigers got out quick and scored at will for the first 11 minutes of action.  Ingrid Gustafson started the scoring off for the Tigers in the 2nd minute.

Spencer scored 3 more goals in the first 11 minutes from Avery McEntee, Alayna McEntee, and Faith Staedtler to make it 4-0.

Staedtler would score again in the 32nd minute to extend the lead to 5 for the Tigers.

With the clock winding down in the first half, Minnie Matthiesen navigated her way through the Sioux Center guard to notch Spencer’s 6th goal going into the locker room.

Sioux Center’s defense was much stiffer in the 2nd half, disrupting Tiger attacks into the final 3rd with a lot of success through the 73rd minute.  Alayna McEntee broke through for the Tigers with her second goal of the match to grow Spencer’s lead to 7.

Halle Sears put the cherry on top of the match with Spencer’s 8th goal in the 78th minute, as Spencer cruised to an 8-0 win.

The Tigers advance to the Class 2A Region 7 Championship where they will match up with top seeded Bishop Heelan of Sioux City, the only non-win so far this season on Spencer’s schedule after the two teams tied back on May 1st.  That will be played at 7:00 Thursday night and can be heard on News Radio 102.5 and AM 1240 KICD with Audio stream right here on northwestiowanow.com.
