SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) – A Spencer man will spend more than eight years in federal prison after admitting to possessing methamphetamine with intent to sell.
On Wednesday, August 27, 33-year-old Dylan Everett Halbur was sentenced to 105 months behind bars in Sioux City Federal Court. The sentence follows a guilty plea from Halbur entered on March 28, earlier this year, where he plead guilty to possession with intent to distribute meth.
The charge follows a search conducted in August of 2024, at a camper in Spencer where Halbur was living at the time. Investigators found 45 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, a digital scale, nearly $3,000 in cash, and other items linked to drug usage and sale.
Following his prison term, Halbur will also serve three years of supervised release.
The case was investigated by Spencer Police, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Lab. It was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sioux City.
