Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — The Spencer Community School Board is looking ahead to a busy spring of budgeting and facility upgrades following their Tuesday night meeting.

The Board set two key dates for the community. A preliminary hearing for the Fiscal Year 2027 budget is scheduled for March 24th, with a final hearing to follow on April 28th.

The district is also preparing for significant investments in its physical plants. Members approved an annual maintenance project list totaling nearly one-and-a-half million dollars. A separate 375-thousand-dollar bid was also greenlit for a sprinkler project with Johnson Sprinkler.

In a major move for local housing, the Board passed a resolution to donate real estate to the Northwest Iowa Corridor Habitat for Humanity. The decision followed a public hearing where no objections were raised, though the final roll call saw one “no” vote from Director Phil Bieber.

Finally, the district is preparing for leadership changes at the Middle School, as the Board approved the hiring of Alex Dreier as Assistant Principal for the upcoming school year.
