Spencer Splashpad Fund Drive Kicks Off in September

Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Engineering plans for a splashpad in Spencer have been done for some time. Park and Red Director Bob Fullhardt says the city will start raising money for construction just after the fair.

The plan now is to fund half a million dollars from Hotel/Motel tax proceeds, and 200 thousand dollars from two, different, local option sales tax funds. The Splashpad will be separate from, but constructed next to, the Aquatic Center. Fullhardt says usage at that facility was about average this summer.

A leak detection company will help pinpoint the break this fall and hopefully repair work completed before winter.
