Spirit Lake, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — It’s cleanup week in Spirit Lake. Sanitation crews will pick up items not accepted the rest of the week like carpet and pads, furniture, and lumber. All appliances and electronics, tires, and box springs and mattresses still require the city tags like normal.

It’s important to note that pickup has already begun along regular garbage routes, so if the truck has already gone by your house, they will not be making a return trip.

The City of Estherville begins its fall yard waste collection today.

Crews will collect biodegradable paper leaf bags containing leaves and lawn raking that residents place at the curb.

Collections will take place each Monday through November 23rd but might extend into additional days during the week if needed to cover the entire city.

Bags containing unacceptable materials will be left at the curb. Those materials include household garbage, pet waste, and landscaping items like planters or pots.

The city of Estherville also reminds residents that the burning of leaves and yard waste is prohibited on lots that are smaller than one and a half acres.
