SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) — A Spirit Lake man was arrested Saturday after allegedly driving through a roadblock west of Spencer.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were directing traffic around a motor vehicle accident near 190th Avenue and 350th Street on August 22.

At approximately 3:40 p.m., 74-year-old Duane Keith Ver Meer of Spirit Lake allegedly failed to follow instructions to turn south and instead proceeded through the roadblock.
