State Patrol Releases Details on Friday Fatality near Emmetsburg

Emmetsburg, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Iowa State Patrol has now released some details about a Friday fatality near Emmetsburg.

Around 5:30pm 21-year-old Austin Stokes of Mallard was Eastbound on County Road B-55, also known as 440th Street, South and East of Emmetsburg. Near the intersection with 470th Avenue he came upon two vehicles blocking the road. An Infinity M45 was facing East, and a Town and Country minivan was facing West.
The accident report says Stokes was unable to avoid striking the car – which slid into the van.

The car driver, 35-year-old Jamee Weber of West Bend, was taken by ambulance to Palo Alto County Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Her passenger, 64-year-old Carol Harding of West Bend, was taken to the same hospital and the transferred by air to Rochester.

The driver of the van, 35-year-old Tyler Weber, was also taken by ambulance to the hospital. Stokes had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by private vehicle.

The State Patrol continues to investigate.
