Storm Lake City Police and Fire Give August Numbers

Storm Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — The Storm Lake Police Department saw an increase in several types of calls in August 2025 compared to the previous year. Calls for drug investigations went up, as did domestic disturbances and burglaries. While overall adult arrests were down from August 2024, juvenile arrests saw a significant increase.

The total number of service calls for the month was 2,536, which is lower than the 4,987 calls reported in August 2024. The total number of arrests for adults was 103, down from 137 in August 2024. However, juvenile arrests increased from four in August 2024 to 18 in August 2025. The number of adult arrests for drugs increased significantly from 10 to 23 year over year, while adult arrests for disorderly conduct also went up from three to 14.

Meanwhile, the Storm Lake Fire Department reported one structure fire and one vehicle fire during the month. Firefighters also conducted 91 residential inspections and 27 fire safety presentations. The department has responded to 57 downed power line calls so far this year
