STORM LAKE, IA (Northwestiowanow) — The City of Storm Lake has released its monthly Police and Fire Department report for September 2025.

According to the report, the Storm Lake Police Department made 153 adult arrests, a rise from 109 during the same month last year. Officers also issued 263 traffic warnings, up from 168 in September 2024. Citizen complaints remained steady at over 600, and officers assisted motorists nearly 290 times.

Among the most reported crimes were burglary (15 cases), rape/sexual assault (27 cases), and robbery (10 cases). The department executed 69 search warrants and responded to 83 fire-related incidents in coordination with the Storm Lake Fire Department.

The Fire Department conducted 155 residential inspections, along with 10 liquor license checks and 3 school/daycare inspections. Firefighters responded to 4 structure fires, 7 good intent calls, and several hazardous situations, including gas leaks and downed power lines.

The Investigations Division handled 138 felony follow-ups, 96 surveillance investigations, and logged over 238 hours of overtime. The K9 Unit participated in one arrest and completed four hours of patrol training.

Public outreach also remained a top priority, with 26 fire safety presentations and continued support for community events and programs.
