Storm Lake Public Safety Reports Busy July

Storm Lake, IA — The City of Storm Lake has released its Public Safety Report for July 2026.

The Storm Lake Police Department reported 2,658 service calls in July, up from 2,523 during the same month last year. Officers conducted 477 vehicle stops and responded to 105 calls to 911.

Police made 145 total arrests during the month, including 132 adult arrests and 13 juvenile arrests. Property crime activity included 16 burglary cases, 16 stolen property cases and nine vandalism reports. Officers also investigated 10 drug-related incidents.

The Investigations Division reported 31 arrests, cleared 24 cases and had 152 cases pending at the end of July.

The Storm Lake Fire Department responded to seven structure fires, four vehicle fires and four brush or field fires during the month. Firefighters also answered 13 EMS assist calls and six gas odor or leak incidents.

The department also completed 102 rental inspections, 82 commercial inspections, 70 public outreach activities and 12 fire investigations.
