STORM LAKE, IA (Northwestiowanow) — The City of Storm Lake has released its annual Drinking Water Quality Report for 2025.

According to the report, routine testing confirmed the city’s drinking water remained safe for residents and businesses throughout the year.

During 2025, the water system was monitored for a wide range of regulated contaminants, including bacteria, metals, disinfectants, and runoff-related substances.

Testing showed lead and copper levels well below action limits, with nitrates and nitrites safely under maximum contaminant levels. One total coliform bacteria sample tested positive during the year, but officials say the result did not rise to the level of a violation and posed no health risk.

Disinfectant levels used to control microbes remained within allowable ranges, and manganese concentrations measured in January 2025 were far below health advisory thresholds, including those set for infants.

City officials say Storm Lake continues to focus on protecting its water sources and improving treatment processes to maintain water quality. Residents are encouraged to review the full report for detailed testing results and general drinking water information.
