Storm Lake Woman Arrested After Shoplifting

STORM LAKE, IA (Northwestiowanow) — A Storm Lake woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing police during a shoplifting investigation.
On Saturday, October 11th at approximately 7:00 p.m., Storm Lake Police were called to Walmart at 1831 North Lake Avenue for a report of a female suspect stealing around $200 worth of merchandise. Officers say the suspect, later identified as 46-year-old Keomanivanh Senesoury Navongsa of Storm Lake, fled the store on foot and ran through the parking lot.
Police pursued Navongsa, who reportedly entered a vehicle and left the area at a high rate of speed. Authorities allege she drove recklessly before losing control and entering a cornfield near 110th Avenue and 580th Street. Navongsa then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate her at the time.
On Thursday evening, October 16th, police located Navongsa at 725 Hickory Street in Storm Lake and took her into custody without incident. She was charged with eluding, theft in the fifth degree, interference with official acts, reckless driving, no valid driver’s license, failure to obey a traffic control device, and driving in the wrong lane. All misdemeanor charges.
Navongsa was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held on $1,287 bond.
The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office assisted Storm Lake Police in the investigation.
