Tornadoes in as a team, Spencer’s Koppie and Rodrigue in for State Meet

Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Spencer hosted one of Class 3A’s State Qualifying Cross Country Meets Wednesday at the Spencer Municipal Golf Course.

In the Girls race, it was Natalie Anderson running 18:20.31 to take 1st Place.  In 2nd was Harlan’s Ashlyn Rau with a time of 18:38.6 and Glenwood’s Grace Berglund took 3rd at 18:52.85.

Sioux Center placed 4th and 5th with Adurina Jones running 19:01.53 and Molly Isakson was 5th at 19:19.47.

Storm Lake was led by Silvia Kampbell, running a time of 19:43.14 to finish 13th.

In front for Spencer was Minnie Matthiesen at 20:03.28 which was good for 18th.

The team score had Sioux Center dominating with 51 points.  Harlan was 2nd with 102, edging out a 3rd place MOC-Floyd Valley team with 111.  Spencer took 8th and Storm Lake was 10th.

For the Boys race, Gavin Weber of Algona won with a time of 16:06.71.  In 2nd was Storm Lake’s Joel Ramirez-Parra with a time of 16:20.94.  Drew Cundy of Sioux Center ran 16:22.41 to finish 3rd with MOC-Floyd Valley’s Isaac Hummel in 4th at 16:35.16.  Caden Kooiker of Sioux Center took 5th at 16:35.5.

Spencer was led by Rylei Koppie, who took 8th, qualifying for the State Meet with a time of 16:48.12.  Also on his way to the State meet is Nathan Rodriguez for Spencer who clocked 17:07.93

In the team score, Sioux Center won with an outstanding 33 points.  Storm Lake also put together a nice team performance together, qualifying as a team for the State meet with a 2nd place score of 72.  In 3rd was MOC-Floyd Valley, scoring 91 points.  Spencer was 4th, missing qualifying as a team by 42 points with a team score of 133.
