Algona, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Emmetsburg and West Bend-Mallard went to the Algona Varsity Girls Tournament on Saturday.

At 120, Taylor Thayer of Emmetsburg took 1st.

Emmetsburg’s Paytn Haack won at 145.

Makenna Burns of Emmetsburg took 2nd at 170.

At 190, Emmetsburg’s Olivia Cadwell took 2nd.

Montana Wilson of Emmetsburg took the title at 235.

In the team scores, Algona won with 312.5, Clear Lake is 2nd at 210.5, and Lake Mills took 3rd with 194.  Emmetsburg was 4th.


Sibley, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Alta-Aurelia, MMCRU, North Union, Sioux Central, and Spirit Lake/Park attended the Sibley-Ocheyedan Boys Wrestling Invite.

Sibley-Ocheyedan’s Keegan Van Der Sloot took 2nd at 106.

At 113, Eli Rieb of Alta-Aurelia took gold with Sibley-Ocheyedan’s Landon Monier taking 2nd.

MMCRU’s Nolan Carver was 3rd at 132.

At 138, Jaxson Page of Alta-Aurelia won with Spirit Lake/Park’s Kyler Hagedorn taking 3rd.

Kyson Jalas of Spirit Lake/Park was 2nd at 144 with North Union’s Castor Kollasch placing 3rd.

MMCRU’s Parker Glassmaker was 2nd at 150.

At 157, Tate Jarvis of Alta-Aurelia took 3rd.

Alta-Aurelia’s Nash Larson won at 165 with Gavin Hensch taking 2nd and Silas Boon of Spirit Lake/Park finishing 3rd.

North Union’s Max Merrill won at 175 with Alta-Aurelia’s Nolan Reeves in 2nd.

At 215, Trevor Diischer of Alta-Aurelia won with Kayden Kooima of Sibley-Ocheyedan taking 2nd.

Sibley-Ocheyedan’s Tommy Wietzema placed 2nd at 285 with Wilson Alpet of Alta-Aurelia finishing 3rd.


Emmetsburg, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Emmetsburg hosted the Bob Roethler Invite for Boys Wrestling on Saturday.  Also attending from the KICD 9-County Area was Estherville Lincoln Central, GTRA, Okoboji/HMS, Pocahontas Area, Spencer, Spirit Lake/Park, Storm Lake, and West Bend-Mallard.

Okoboji/HMS’s Noah Fairchild was 2nd at 106.

Winning at 113 was Pocahontas Area’s Jakob Lawson and taking 3rd was Caden Gress of Spencer.

Storm Lake’s JJ Najera finished 2nd at 120.

At 138, Brody Olson of Estherville Lincoln Central was 1st, Okoboji/HMS’s Braxton Heitritter was 2nd.

144 had Easton Beehler of Spencer pick up the win with Braxton Johnson of Estherville Lincoln Central taking 3rd.

Estherville Lincoln Central’s Warren Duitsman was 2nd at 150 with Caleb Manwarren of GTRA in 3rd.

GTRA’s Caleb Swedin was 2nd at 157.

At 165, Estherville Lincoln Central’s Bennett Duitsman won with Noah Fullhart of Spencer 2nd.

William Lawson of Pocahontas Area took 1st at 175 and Brayden Yates of Emmetsburg was 2nd.

Emmetsburg’s Ryan Wirtz won at 190, GTRA’s Luke Malm took 2nd with Javen Beal of Okoboji/HMS in 3rd.

Cael Currans of GTRA was 3rd at 215.

At 285, Tallen Lorenzen of Spencer was 1st and Nick Saxton of Emmetsburg took 2nd.
